Home is Where We Are
Looking out the front window of our temporary lodging here in Wells, MN, I’m trying to capture in words what this year has been for us. My heart warms at recalling the people, places, and especially God’s faithfulness. Times of stress near tears, times of joy that leave us smiling from our souls still. And what the future holds…
Remember the crazy 36 straight hours of prayer at GCF we coordinated before moving? The church has taken the overall vision from that time as a call to action. Galway Christian Fellowship has started holding an Alpha Course the last couple of weeks. Alpha is a basic intro to Christianity and Discipleship. Combining the hospitality of a meal with friendship and Bible based teaching & discussions. Many have found the saving love of Christ through these meetings.
Even better: One of our non-church friends in Galway will be going to the course. Sarai's friendship with her son in school is how our friendship started with her. Before we left Ireland she told us,
“You guys read the Bible and know God differently than I do—I know I want more of that…and I want my kids to know too.”
Other Praises:
- GCF youth came back from the spring conference revitalized and even more passionate for Jesus
- God's provision through unexpected routes--ie: a former missionary passing on his support system to us, people getting more than they thought back for taxes and passing on the overflow...Awesome God!
- Young Adults Group continues to grow and thrive
Speaking of Young Adults: many of you know that we lead a 20-somethings (young adult) group in Galway. Honestly, we never saw it lasting. Numbers were dwindling and we thought it was going to end around Christmas time but thought we'd keep it up for a couple more goes.
...and then it doubled
....and then people from other cities started coming
.....and then they invited their friends
......and then pastors started calling us and asking us how to run a group for this age.
Crazy!!! It’s currently running on, being led by a couple of the older guys within the group. They are sharing testimonies, praying for each other, drawing new people in, volunteering around the church, and planning an outreach into the community when we return.
- Continued passion in the Christian youth and young adults of GCF and Galway
- May-June Alpha course being held at Galway Christian Fellowship
- June 26 Meet the Gamradts party in Wisconsin. (gathering to get new contacts and stir up interest in missions in Ireland and possibly some financial support)
- July 25 Meet the Gamradts party in Duluth.
- Overall safe travel, health, increase in contacts and financial support, and ministry in Ireland
