“You could have the same story as just about any Irish girl.”
Evelien, a youth worker in Ireland for 8 years, said this about my (Maureen) life story. Divorced parents, depression, suicidal, battling eating disorders, and desperate for love, I struggled for some way to find worth. The club lifestyle, good grades, friends, and even sexual intimacy never fully satisfied this quest. My teenage years were full of striving for an identity that I fortunately found in Christ. When I think about the youth of Ireland, I see this same struggle to find out if they matter, to whom, and will this someone just leave them or close them off too. I’ve met young ladies desperate to be loved, but rejected so many times that they have built thick walls of protection around their hearts. I desire so much to help them understand that they are lovely in the sight of Jesus, the Redeemer of their broken spirits, Restorer of dreams, Healer of their lives.
“You don’t seem like you come from that kind of family...you seem like you have so much joy, not that downcast look that most people from broken homes have…”
Kevin and I want to see the young men and women of Ireland impacted by Jesus in such a way that what one of our friends recently said above would be true of them as well. Though we will not be departing for Galway until after the next wee Gamradt lass is born in September, we are constantly in the ministry of prayer for these youth. Your prayers are making a difference in teenage lives in Ireland too. Thank you for your continued prayer and financial support—without it, the ministry would be nothing but a venture in our own strength. Kevin and I want you to prayerfully consider becoming part of our ministry team, if you aren’t already, by filling out the attached form below. If you have any questions about how to commit to one of the following options, please don’t hesitate to write, call, or drop us an email. Thank you for your generosity and faithfulness.
Pray…
*For God’s Spirit to go before us and those already ministering in Galway; preparation of hearts to hear about Jesus
*For the broken-hearted, desperate, and searching teens in Ireland
*For provision and God’s timing both in our family’s circumstances, our steering committee in Galway, and all those involved in YFC Galway, Ireland
In Him,
Kevin & Maureen Gamradt
