January News

Happy 2008!
There’s something brisk and refreshing about the New Year, wouldn’t you agree? Every day holds the possibility for change and becoming that much closer to the fulfillment of dreams. For us, that includes the expectation of living out a 5 year old dream by leaving for Ireland as soon as we have raised 100% of the funds needed to support our family and ministry in Ireland.

We traveled to Houston, Texas in December, which brought a raised climate in weather as well as prayer and financial support. A friend from our church in Duluth mentioned our heart for Ireland and missions to his uncle in Houston, who then proceeded to contact us about coming down to speak at local churches. Through this somewhat obscure opportunity, we saw God open other doors. Another church friend contacted her nephew living in the area, who then gave us the refuge of his home, food, and company for the week. Kevin happens to have a sister living in the area, as well as a friend from college (who incidentally blessed us by setting up a speaking engagement at her church very last minute). Our adventures included simply visiting with friends and family, to preaching in front of a lively Nigerian church at their Sunday service, to sharing our hearts to a small Sunday night congregation whose pastor was challenging them to double their missions budget because they feel it is what God is asking of them, to eating fried alligator and gumbo at 9pm with a pastor and his family. We are so blessed and encouraged by what we experienced while there—new financial and prayer supporters; new friends and relationships.

“Test me in this…”

These are days of living by faith for us in a way like we have never known. Just as we think we are at an end, the Lord is faithful and confirms this path we are on. 40% of needed pledges for our monthly salary, and 62% of our launch funds have been raised. We are so grateful for your partnership.Thank you for including us in your giving budget for 2008. See if God doesn’t “…throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it "(Malachi 3v10). We would still like to be in Ireland in the early part of this year. With your financial partnership we are ever closer to the vision God has put in our heart.

Prayer points:

*Irish Christian Websites were targeted in early December with a virus, leaving the YFC Ireland website crippled beyond repair. Please pray for the funds, time, and volunteers needed to construct a new site.

*Suzie and Naomi with YFC Dublin, along with a team of youth have just returned from doing ministry at a leper colony in India. Pray for their transition as well as the lasting impact of their ministry.

*Pray for the youth of Ireland, that God would be more than a church building or duty, but a living part of their lives.*Pray for our financial needs. With 75 people contributing $50/month or 35 people pledged at $100/month, our goals will be met.

Thank You.

In Him,
Kevin & Maureen
